Entrepreneur Resources

A Resource for Entrepreneurs

Starting up a business is not easy, I can safely say through my own experience. It involves long hours, nearly constant stress, loneliness, uncertainty, and diving into the terrifying unknown. There are a lot of resources out there for entrepreneurs, but sometimes as an entrepreneur it can be difficult to find them, especially when you feel buried under work. This can be particularly difficult when incorporating the triple bottom line into your startup business. When your industry is still working on finding best practices, how do you as a startup business compete? Fortunately, P3 Utah has been able to create the [Sustainable And Social Enterprise Directory](Link), which we call SASE (pronounced “sassy”). This directory provides all sorts of resources for any startup organization who wants to be sustainable and incorporate corporate social responsibility into their operations.

Here are three resources from the SASE Directory that I particularly like and which you might find helpful.

Sustainable Startups (www.sustainablestartups.com)

Sustainable Startups is an incubator helping grow businesses specializing in sustainability based in Salt Lake City. Entrepreneurs who apply to be in the incubator and are accepted will have detailed training, mentorship, and resources to help them develop their business. They also host a weekly pitch event, 1 Million Cups, to help entrepreneurs refine their business pitch. Most importantly, it provides a place to socialize with other entrepreneurs, which is an often-overlooked aspect of entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneur Launch Pad (www.elpnow.org)

The Entrepreneur Launch Pad is similar to Sustainable Startups, but has multiple locations along the Wasatch Front. They focus specifically on entrepreneurs who start up organizations with a desire to serve their community, providing mentorship, resources, and connections through their weekly meetings.

Benefit Corporation (www.benefitcorp.net)

If you are looking to start up a business, you should take a look at becoming a Benefit Corporation or a Benefit LLC. P3 Utah has helped pass laws creating these types of businesses in the state of Utah, and if you want to learn more about what the benefits of becoming a Benefit Business are, the Benefit Corporation website will help. You can also find more information on P3 Utah’s website!

There are many resources for startup businesses, and now with the SASE Directory there are many more to help your business with the triple bottom line.
